Abstract
This research discusses Indonesian literature in the context of the ethnic diversity of the archipelago. This study discusses three subjects, namely Indonesian literature and historical dynamics, the ethnic culture of the archipelago that forms the personality of Indonesian literature, and cultural identity as a unifying nation. From the viewpoint of historical dynamics, Indonesian literature at its inception has adopted ethnic cultural diversity in the archipelago, ranging from Minangkabau, Javanese, Sundanese, Balinese, Madura, NTT, etc. Indonesian literature has been living in the territorial territory of ethnic cultural diversity in the archipelago. Indonesian literature seems to be comfortable in the midst of cultural diversity while slowly building and finding identity. Archipelago's cultural-based literature has the duty to create harmony in people's lives, and to harmonize the cultural diversity of the archipelago's ethnicity.
