Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of this research is to develop a Tri hita karana-based model in lifeskill counseling to empower young generations to acquire general lifeskills: (a) self- recognition, (b) self- learning, (c) independence, (d) communicative, (e) cooperartive and colaborative, and (f) solidarity. Studies to develop this kind of general lifeskills are needed because counseling services in most society tend to be academic and vocational oriented. Therefore lifeskill counseling is a must especially to empower young generation in society. The study was conducted in four steps. First, preliminary overview of general lifeskill education program in society. This study included a review of related lifeskill counseling research, analyzed Tri hita karana concept and examined on lifeskill counseling model development. Second, developed a hypothetical lifeskill counseling model based on Tri hita karana and formulated an early lifeskill counseling service. Third, conducted a model validation though seminars and try-out model and data analysis. At this stage researcher conducted a data analysis betwen pre-test and post-test implementation. Data analysis is meant to comprehend the effectivity of the model to be developed. Fourth, based on data analysis, researcher formulated a final model of Tri hita karana-based counseling service and further socialize, disseminate, and strengthen the place of counseling in society. This model includes: (1) rationale, (2) a need for counseling service, (3) vision and mission, (4) goals of counseling service, (5) support system, and (6) model development, treatment evaluation and the role of counselor. In general, this research has achieved the targeted goals; to develop a Tri hita karana-based model in lifeskill counseling. The model can be useful for tutors, technical resource persons, counselor, organizer of fasilitator at provincial or district level. This model is preventive, developmental and curative.
