Abstract

ABSTRACT The statistic data described that active speakers of Balinese language decreased 1% every year (Alwi, 2003). The last data also implied liniar information, as reported by Anashir (2012), that the number of speakers of Balinese language was 3,330,000 people. However only 1 million was considered to be active user of Balinese (Bali Post, 15 Maret 2008). In order to overcome the condition, a more comprehensive Balinese Language planning strategy. One of the concerned planning strategies could be done through learning. One of the main aspects in learning of Balinese language is developing learning methodology naturally. Focus on natural aspect implied that teachers need to develop setting of learning Balinese language, such as realisation of language use ini society. In order to realize the setting, teachers can apply whole language approach, which represent Balinese language totally that focuses on an appropriate theme. This approach is believed to able to increase meaningfulness of the learning of Balinese language at elementary school.
