Abstract
Abstract The contact betueen Bnlinese lnnguage and other local and foreign languages has not been occuring only itt this ntillenium century but for ages. It can be obserued in some Balinese language oocabuiaies absorbed from other local and ioreign languages. The absorbed aocabulaies or uptake into Balinese has undergone naturalization through process of syllable structure. This study analyzes process of syllable structure naturalizntion of the Balinese language uptake based on generntioe transfonnntion iinguistics theory. Based on the applied tlrcory, it could be concluded that the process of syllable structure occurred on the uptake naturalizdtion in the laitguagc zocre: (1) ronconant deletion, (2) rtcnoel deletion, (3) vowel insertion, (4) oowel confuination, and (5) metathesis
