Abstract

This study was to determine the effectiveness of using audio-visual media in improving students' ability to dance the Sekar Jagat dance. This classroom action research was conducted at SMA PGRI 4 Denpasar on dance extracurricular activities involving 35 students. This research was conducted in two cycles. Data collection is done by using student’s skills assessment techniques. The data obtained were then analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results of data analysis revealed that the use of audio-visual media had a positive impact on students' ability to dance the Sekar Jagat dance. These results can be seen in the increase in the average score of students at the time of initial observation to the end of the second cycle which has increased. Furthermore, at the end of the second cycle all students had scored above the minimum completeness criteria. Therefore, it is concluded that audio-visual media can improve students' abilities in dancing the Sekar Jagat dance. For teachers who experience similar problems, the results of this study can be used as a reference for improving the quality of learning.
