Abstract

The literary division is the ideal literary learning which balancing between theory and practice (skills). The purpose of this study was to determine the ability to appreciate the short story "SUAP" by Putu Wijaya with reception approach by the students of class X SMA N 8 Denpasar academic year 2012/2013. The subjects of this study were all students of class X SMA N 8 Denpasar academic year 2012/2013, amounting to 319 people. The research sample was assigned 25% of the population. The approach used empirical method of research subjects. Data collected by the test method. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics. From the data analysis it can be concluded that the ability appreciated short story "SUAP" from Putu Wijaya by students of Class X SMA N 8 Denpasar that were categorized well, with the average value of the 81. Students are advised to be more creative and critical In appreciating literature.
