Abstract

Seaweed cultivation is one of the livelihoods of the people of Nusa Penida Subdistrict, Klungkung Regency.The condition of the beach ecosystem around the area is very supportive of the growth of marine biota, especially seaweed. The purpose of this study is to identify the type of seaweed found in natural ecosystems waters of Nusa Penida.The types of seaweed identified were in Batununggul Village, Suana Village and Ped Village. The type of research is descriptive research. The subjects of this study are all types of seaweed found in the natural ecosystem of Nusa Penida waters, while the object is the diversity of seaweed found in the natural ecosystem of Nusa Penida waters.Observations were made using the method of observation and interviews with seaweed farmers. The results showed that there were 16 types of seaweed in Nusa Penida District, consisting of five types of green algae (Chlorophyta), three types of brown algae (Phaeophyta) and eight types of red algae (Rhodophyta).The types of seaweed that are mostly cultivated in Nusa Penida District are Eucheuma spinosum, Eucheuma cottonii, and Kappaphycus alvarezii.
