Abstract

The purpose of this study is to obtain learning characteristics, procedures for developing instructional materials and obtain the effectiveness of trigonometric teaching materials in high school with realistic mathematics education oriented to HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 in increasing learning activities and outcomes. This type of research is design research, the product produced is a trigonometric teaching material that is of high quality, valid, practical, and effective. The subjects in this study were adjusted to the stages of the research, the technique of taking was using purposive sampling, this research was conducted in the XI MIPA 1 class of SMA PGRI 4 Denpasar in the academic year 2019/2020. The design research includes 3 phases: Preliminary research, Prototyping, and Assessment. The development of teaching materials in accordance with the characteristics in realistic mathematics education is oriented to HOTS questions that are of good quality, valid, and effective. Characteristics of learning using contextual problems, various models, student contributions, linkages, and learning processes lead to the formation of values of knowledge, skills and good attitudes. Characteristics of teaching materials for students and teachers are the first part, the core part, and the final section contains bibliography. Teaching materials with realistic mathematics education oriented to HOTS questions that have been developed are quite effective in increasing the activity and learning outcomes of students.
