Abstract

In Chapter XV article 36 Undang-Undang Dasar 1945, it is stated that the national language is Indonesian. As national language, Indonesian is used to run government administration. Legal document is a part of government administration. That's why, legal document shall use standard Indonesian. Based on pragmatic study, language in legal document can be defined as directive speech act. The use of Indonesian in legal document is sufficient in aspect of quality and relevance maxim, but it needs adjustment and, improvement in aspect of quantity and manner maxim.
